2 players who could follow Liam Moore to Celtic in January

Celtic supporters have been making a lot of noise in the Transfer Tavern this season after seeing their side continue their dominance of Scottish football by taking their unbeaten domestic run to 63 matches, thus breaking their own 100-year record.

Brendan Rodgers’ men were irresistible last season in winning the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup, and Scottish League Cup titles, and they have made a fine start to this term as well by already opening up a three-point lead at the top of the division, as well as reaching the League Cup final. And the Bhoys made history in their last outing, with a 4-0 success at St Johnstone taking Celtic’s unbeaten domestic run to 63 matches, in turn beating the previous record set by the Bhoys 100 years ago.

Thus, there have been happy and jubilant Celtic supporters in the Tavern in the last few weeks, many of whom are eagerly anticipating their side’s return to league action against Ross County on Saturday, in which they will seek to build upon their three-point gap to second place Aberdeen in the table.

In the meantime though, there has been plenty for those Bhoys fans lining up at the bar to get their teeth into, not least a recent report from The Daily Record, which suggests that Rodgers is eyeing up a raid on former employers Reading for defender Liam Moore.

The 24-year-old made the move to the Madejski Stadium back in 2016 and played a key role in helping the Royals reach the Championship play-off final back in May, although his missed penalty in the shootout, alongside that of Jordan Obita’s, meant that Jaap Stam’s men succumbed to Huddersfield Town at Wembley.

Nonetheless, Moore has been excellent for the Berkshire outfit and has thus reportedly attracted interest from Rodgers’ Celtic, and as such here are TWO other stars who could follow the Englishman to Celtic Park in January…

Filip Benkovic

Both Jozo Simunovic and Erik Sviatchenko have struggled with injury so far this season, leaving Rodgers with depleted options at centre-back.

And one man who has been linked with a move to Parkhead recently is Dinamo Zagreb defender Filip Benkovic, a Croatia Under-21 international with over 50 club appearances to his name, all at the tender age of 20.

And having impressed for the Croatian giants in recent times, Rodgers’ Celtic are reportedly keeping tabs on his progress ahead of a possible bid in January, a move which could well bolster their defensive ranks and give the former Liverpool boss plenty of options for the remainder of the season.

Artem Dovbyk

Dnipro striker Artem Dovbyk has made huge strides at the Ukrainian outfit in recent times, and could well be destined for a big future in the game.

The 20-year-old made his senior debut for the club back in 2015 but struggled for regular football in the immediate aftermath, only to go from strength to strength with five goals in 22 league appearances last term, albeit he couldn’t help keep Dnipro in the Ukrainian top-flight.

And with 12 goals in 12 games so far this term, Dovbyk is continuing to impress, so much so that Celtic have been linked with a move for the striking ace.

And with his contract up on December 31, Rodgers could well move for the young forward on a free in the New Year.
