Aston Villa supporters have been making a lot of noise in the Transfer Tavern in recent weeks following their side’s upturn in form.

Steve Bruce’s men made a slow start to the new Championship season by winning just one of their opening seven matches, yet victories over Barnsley, Nottingham Forest, and Burton Albion have propelled the side up to eighth in the table, and at the same time eased the mounting pressure on the Villans chief.

And it means that the Midlands giants will head into their encounter with bottom of the table Bolton Wanderers on Saturday confident of another three points, which would, in turn, extend their unbeaten Championship run to eight games.

However, one man who almost certainly won’t be featuring for the club this weekend is striker Ross McCormack, as the Scotland international is reportedly set for a loan move to Australian outfit Melbourne City in the coming days.

The 31-year-old moved to Villa back in 2016 but has struggled to make a meaningful impact at the club, and was shipped out on loan to Nottingham Forest earlier this year to underline his lowly position in Bruce’s pecking order.

And McCormack’s imminent departure has called into question whether there could be some more to leave Villa Park, albeit likely to be in January, and as such here are TWO players who might follow the Scotsman out of the Championship side…

Tommy Elphick

Centre-back Tommy Elphick made the move to Aston Villa back in the summer of 2016 after an impressive spell at Bournemouth, and was at first a regular feature under Roberto Di Matteo.

However, the arrival of Bruce saw the 30-year-old fall alarmingly down the pecking order at Villa Park, to the point that he has only made nine Championship appearances since the turn of the year, and none so far this season.

And the defender was reportedly linked with a move away during the summer, with bitter rivals Birmingham thought to be interested, although no move materialised for Elphick, leaving him facing a potentially tricky few months leading up to January.

A red card in their Carabao Cup defeat to Middlesbrough has hardly helped his cause, and as such the Englishman may well be on his way out of Villa Park come the New Year.

Keinan Davis

Sorry Villa fans, but with reports linking Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United with Keinan Davis, there’s a chance he could well leave the club in January.

The 19-year-old only made his Villa debut back in January of this year but has since gone from strength to strength, appearing a further 14 times for the Midlands giants, netting two goals and laying on two assists in the process.

And his fine form has, unsurprisingly, attracted the interest of those in the top-flight, notably Arsene Wenger’s Gunners and Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils, and as such Bruce could face an uphill battle trying to keep the forward come the New Year, especially if he continues to impress for the Championship side.
