Tottenham supporters were in high spirits in the Transfer Tavern over the weekend after seeing their side end a memorable week with a much-needed but hard-fought 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at Wembley, a result which moved them level on points with Manchester United in the Premier League table.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men may well have lost to the Red Devils at the start of the week but they soon put that behind them with a sensational 3-1 victory over European champions Real Madrid on Wednesday, a result which booked their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League for the first time since 2011. And although they were far from their best against Roy Hodgson’s struggling Palace on Sunday, they got the three points thanks to a wonderful second half goal from Son Heung-min, which was enough to see them draw level on points with Jose Mourinho’s United in the Premier League table.

Thus, several of our resident Spurs fans have been toasting their side’s great week in the Tavern in the last few days, and many are already looking forward to their team’s crunch clash with North London rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium after the international break.

In the meantime though, there is plenty for those hardy Tottenham fans lining up at the bar to discuss, not least what business the club could conduct in the January transfer window, which will be upon us before you know it.

Pochettino’s men are eight points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City but have certainly shown their credentials in Europe after that fine win over Real, so it’s likely to be more about who is leaving rather than joining in the New Year.

Thus, here are TWO Tottenham players who need to leave in January for the sake of their own careers…

Michel Vorm

Paulo Gazzaniga’s excellent display against Crystal Palace on Sunday in the absence of Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm may well have promoted him to second in command behind the Frenchman, which is unlikely to be well-received by Dutchman Vorm.

The 34-year-old made the move to Spurs back in 2014 after impressing for fellow Premier League side Swansea City, but he has managed just 34 appearances for the North London outfit since then, only ten of which have come in the league.

The Netherlands international is not going to dispose Lloris on a regular basis, and Gazzaniga proved on Sunday that he is just as able a deputy as well. So surely it’s time to move on.

At 34, Vorm hasn’t got loads of time left, but he’s certainly got enough to go on and excel at another club were he to move in January.

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou

22-year-old Georges-Kevin N’Koudou made the move to Tottenham back in the summer of 2016 for £11 million, but has shown little of his capabilities in North London.

The winger has managed just nine Premier League appearances for Pochettino’s side in the last 14 months or so, none of which have been starts and have altogether totalled up to a mere 52 minutes on the pitch.

And with just three appearances in other competitions this season as well, it’s clear that the talented Frenchman isn’t going to get regular first team football at Spurs, and as such he should seek a move away, likely to be on loan, in January to get the gametime he needs to aid his development.
