2 reasons Chelsea shouldn’t bring Lampard back in a coaching role just yet

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been longing for the return of Frank Lampard…

The Chelsea legend recently retired from playing, and that left many in the Transfer Tavern wondering what his next role could be.

According to ESPN, he has returned to Chelsea as he looks to continue to train as a coach – and whilst that has left many hoping that he will find a permanent role – our landlord isn’t so sure that it is the right time for that.

After all, Lampard is only freshly retired – and whilst he was a hero on the pitch, that does not mean that he will be a hero off of it.

Frank Lampard will always go down as a legend at Chelsea, and one day, he will almost certainly return to the club – but that time is not now.

With that said, here are 2 reasons Chelsea shouldn’t bring Lampard back in a coaching role just yet…

 No Experience

Don’t get it wrong, Frank Lampard was a fantastic player. At Chelsea, he is arguably the greatest player to ever don the famous blue shirt – but that experience, crucially, came as a player.

He has no experience of being a manager or a coach.

Chelsea have a rich history of top players, but it is important that the Blues don’t offer out jobs just based on that. They need to bring something to the table, and at present – Lampard won’t offer much as a coach.

 Disrupt the Title Charge

At present, all focus at Chelsea needs to be on the title charge.

After overseeing a remarkable turnaround at Chelsea, Antonio Conte cannot afford to lose focus and spend any of his time helping Frank Lampard. In the same breath, neither can any of his own personal assistants. All eyes need to be on the prize, and at the moment, Frank Lampard is not a priority.

If he can come to the club and blend in to the background as he learns, that’s fine – but anything more would be a mistake.

Lampard isn’t ready for a coaching role at Chelsea, and Chelsea aren’t ready to have Frank Lampard as a coach.
