You’ve got to admit it, Tottenham are one of the favourites for the Premier League this season and our local Spurs fans here in the Transfer Tavern are getting excited it could be their year.

They had such a feeling for much of last season as they kept Leicester City close company all the way until the closing stages of the Premier League season, when they crumbled at home to West Brom and away to Chelsea.

Any worries that would have a negative effect on this season, though, have completely vanished to leave us with another strong looking Spurs side ready to take on anything that comes their way.

Mauricio Pochettino deserves credit for ensuring his players go again and come January, depending on where they are in the league they may want to sign some reinforcements to really go for the title.

Our landlord agrees and reckons these THREE Brazilians would be perfect for the cause…

Bernard

The diminutive winger could be exactly what Spurs need.

They still need some pace out wide and the Brazilian has that in absolute bundles.

He’s coming up to his prime at the age of 24 and would compliment Spurs’ average squad nicely after being at Shakhtar for three years.

One more thing, what a cracking name – the Spurs fans by the bar would love to put it on their shirts.

Renato Augusto

The midfielder is in China at the moment with Beijing Guoan but that shouldn’t put Spurs off because he has talent.

He’s played in Europe for the likes of Bayer Leverkusen and would be a different kind of central player to what Spurs have at the moment in the sense that he likes to knock the ball around.

Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele can play but they are more physical whilst Augusto can pull the strings properly.

Rafinha

Rafinha is one of the many talented players at Barcelona that just don’t normally get a look in.

He’d get into a lot of sides in Europe or at least get close but at Barca it simply isn’t going to happen and so Spurs should look to profit.

They do have good attacking midfield options already but with the fixture list set to get even more hectic from January, another one like Rafinha wouldn’t do any harm.
