Aston Villa have been rocked by striking controversy in recent weeks and their supporters here in the Tavern are rightfully frustrated with how things have unfolded in recent weeks.
The news centres around costly striker Ross McCormack, who was an £11million purchase from Fulham this summer. According to reports, he’s been refusing to turn up for training because of faulty doors on his house but fans here in the pub seem to think things run a little deeper than that.
But regardless of what’s been going on, Villa manager Steve Bruce has not been impressed with the conduct of his player, who is looking more and more likely to move on before the transfer window slams shut in a couple of days time.
And we think he’s the sort of player Villa really don’t need around the club at the moment, as they look to continue their climb back into the top flight.

Villa’s collapse last season was just like this
Okay, so it’s not exactly a carbon copy of what we saw last season but we saw just how negative having players around Villa Park who don’t want to work really is.
The likes of Joleon Lescott and his infamous pocket car tweet are all things which turned supporters against the club last time out and Ross McCormack is doing his best to bring that back.
They need to get rid of all the negative influence, or risk sliding down the division again.
He commands a decent transfer fee
At 30-years-old, Ross McCormack isn’t getting any younger and he’s certainly not done the business for Villa since joining the club.
But still, he’s a player that always seems to command a decent transfer sum and moving him on this January would still see some reinvestment in the club, particularly on a player that Steve Bruce didn’t even sign in the first place.
Quite simply, he’s not been scoring goals
McCormack is a player who, at this level, is renowned for scoring goals and to put it simply, he hasn’t returned nearly as much as the price Villa paid for him in the summer.
Jonathan Kodjia has been the focal point of this Aston Villa side and in his absence, McCormack really hasn’t stepped up to the plate in the slightest.
Strikers score goals and even the Villa punters in the bar are fed up with the lack of return from the Scottish international.
