Celtic supporters have been making all the noise in the Transfer Tavern in recent times after seeing their side match their 100-year record of 62 domestic matches unbeaten with a 1-1 draw against Kilmarnock on Saturday, a result which also keeps them top of the Scottish Premiership.

Brendan Rodgers’ men completed the domestic treble last term by winning the league, the Scottish Cup, and the Scottish League Cup, and they are already close to defending at least one of those titles by reaching the latter’s showpiece last weekend at the expense on Hibernian. And they lead the Scottish Premiership as well after drawing 1-1 with Steve Clarke’s Killy on Saturday, with Leigh Griffiths’ first half strike cancelled out by Jordan Jones’ effort on the hour mark.

And although it wasn’t the victory many of our resident Bhoys fans wanted, it did tie their 100-year-old record of 62 domestic games unbeaten, and what a huge confidence boost that could be for Rodgers’ men ahead of their testing clash with German giants Bayern Munich in the Champions League tonight.

Jupp Heynckes’ side currently sit second in Group B having won two of their opening three matches, including a comfortable 3-0 success over Celtic in their last match a fortnight ago.

And having reclaimed their place at the top of the Bundesliga recently, the German heavyweights appear to be heading in the right direction once again, and as such will pose a serious test to Rodgers and his Celtic side in Glasgow this evening.

However, here are THREE reasons why the Bhoys can upset the odds and defeat Bayern tonight…

Huge high after record-equalling result

Celtic made it 62 domestic games unbeaten at the weekend by drawing 1-1 at home with Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership, in turn equalling their 100-year record in what has been a sensational run from Rodgers’ side.

And although they didn’t get the win they were after at Celtic Park on Saturday, there is likely to be a huge buzz around the club after matching that wonderful achievement, and they’ll look to break that record against St Johnstone next weekend.

However, as a result of achieving something incredible, Rodgers’ side will be supremely confident ahead of the visit of Bayern, and even though they will be huge underdogs against the German giants, the confidence they got from Saturday could be enough to propel them towards a famous result this evening.

Home support

There aren’t many better stages in European football than a midweek clash at Celtic Park, where many top sides over the years have come unstuck against the Bhoys.

Last year, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who went into the clash having won eight games in a row, could only muster a 3-3 draw against Rodgers’ men, while the likes of Ajax, Benfica, AC Milan, and of course Barcelona have all succumbed to defeat in Glasgow in the last ten years.

Thus, the home support will surely be as raucous as ever and could play a key part in helping Celtic register another famous victory at Celtic Park.

Bayern’s away European woes

Bayern Munich are always tipped as one of the favourites for the Champions League at the start of every season, but their recent away record in the competition is far from convincing and must give Rodgers’ men confidence ahead of Tuesday’s game.

The German giants have won just two of their last nine European away games, with victories over PSV Eindhoven and Arsenal last term intertwined with defeats to Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Rostov in the last 12 months or so.

So while they are all conquering at the Allianz Arena, as Celtic saw for themselves a fortnight ago, there are some question marks about them on the road, and the Bhoys must seek to exploit that and make them uncomfortable at Celtic Park this evening.
