West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern were not so happy with their sides start to the new Premier League season.

The Hammers have gone down in the fist two games of the Premier League season with seven goals conceded and things could start to get a bit hairy for Slaven Bilic’s side if they do not pick up results in the next few weeks.

With that said, the intent in the window after a mediocre season last time around means that things surely won’t be the same this season and the Hammers certainly have the squad to compete in the Premier League

A common view from all in the Tavern that Bilic was let down by a lot of his senior players last season so he will be looking to them to perform against a Newcastle side that has struggled on their return to the Premier League.

The Newcastle game is a massive one for Slaven Bilic and his men and it has sparked a real debate among the regular Hammers in the Tavern and they have outlined the XI Bilic must pick to turn things around on Saturday.

GK: Joe Hart

The on loan keeper has conceded seven goals in his first two starts in the West Ham goal but our landlord believes Hart has the quality to really keep the goals out for West Ham so they can progress.

There is also a small point to prove to Pep Guardiola in the process of this season for Hart…

RB: Pablo Zabaleta

Another man let go by Guardiola, Zabaleta has been thrusted into a somewhat veteran defence that need to use their experience to stop the goals flowing against their side.

Zabaleta will look to lead a West Ham side to a clean sheet against Newcastle.

CB: Jose Fonte

Without Winston Reid, Jose Fonte will play centre back and look to continue Newcastle’s woes in front of goal on Saturday.

Many in the Tavern claim Fonte is too old to compete in the Premier League but the Portuguese international will be looking to prove those punters wrong.

CB: Angelo Ogbonna

Ogbonna has shown the Hammers fans glimpses of what he can do during his time at the club but they still want more from the centre half.

It’ll be a big season for the 29-year-old as he surely reaches the peak of his career.

LB: Arthur Masuaku

Bilic will look to be making changes and that may lead to Aaron Cresswell being replaced by Masuaku this weekend.

Overall, West Ham’s defending has been poor and Cresswell may be the first casualty as Bilic looks to get the right formula going forward.

CM: Pedro Obiang

Introduced from the bench against Southampton, our landlord feels that Obiang simply must start this weekend against Newcastle.

The midfielder was arguably the Hammers best player last season and his return may see a turn around in form for the Hammers.

CM: Declan Rice

One of the bright sparks from what was a miserable day for the Hammers last weekend, Rice will look to build on his performance against Southampton by putting in a good shift against Newcastle this weekend.

Bilic spoke well of the youngster and the Hammers in the Tavern would like to see more of the youngster.

RM: Edmilson Fernandes

As Bilic looks to create more of a goal threat, our landlord believes he should introduce the young Swiss, Edmilson Fernandes against Newcastle.

Fernandes was employed at right wing back last season but his creativity was evident and setting him free may mean more chances created for the Hammers.

CAM: Manuel Lanzini

It is expected that Lanzini will return from injury for this one and it could not come at a better time for Slaven Biiic’s side.

The Argentine provides the spark that the Hammers so desperately need and he will be vital in this fixture which is surely a must win game.

LM: Michail Antonio

With Marko Arnautovic suspended, our landlord expects to see Antonio moved over to the left for this one.

The Englishman has been really impressive since joining West Ham two seasons ago and many in the Tavern are hoping he continues that form this year as well.

ST: Javier Hernandez

The ‘Little Pea’ got off the mark for the Hammers last weekend with two poachers’ goals and the Irons in the Tavern would love to see more of that from the Mexican.

Goalscorers are like gold dust in the Premier League and that is exactly why Chicharito is so important to this West Ham side.
