It’s a big weekend for our neighbours north of the border as Celtic take on Rangers in the Old Firm Derby – and our landlord here at the Transfer Tavern cannot wait!

Why is it such a big game you ask? Rangers aren’t really in the title race so it’s not a title decider…The reason it’s such a big game is Celtic are completely unbeaten in the league this season.

Insert their biggest rivals Rangers, who are without a full-time manager and anything to play for really in the league… So why not go all out to destroy your rivals making history?

The Bhoys have been so strong this season and it’s shown with them likely to continue their run, and join elite clubs such as Juventus, Arsenal and Ajax in going an entire league campaign unbeaten.

Rodgers has done everything right so far in his Celtic career, and if he selects the right team then they’ll have no issues in smashing their rivals on the weekend.

So with that in mind, this is the starting Celtic XI our landlord thinks Rodgers should field against Rangers…

GK: CRAIG GORDON

The Scotland international showed his commitment for the faith the club put in him by turning down the opportunity to join Chelsea in January.

He is firmly their first choice and De Vries is no real competition for him, but does clearly drive him to play better.

LB: KIERAN TIERNEY

The highly regarded Scotland international full-back has just gone from strength to strength under Rodgers and possesses all the talent needed to be a super talent.

Should he remain fit he’ll undoubtedly attract attention in the summer transfer window.

CB: ERIK SVIATCHENKO

The Danish centre-back has been a welcome addition to the side and looks to be a rock at the back for the Bhoys this season.

He’s well and truly cemented his place as first choice and having faced Rangers now on four occasions, he’ll know what to expect.

CB: DEDRYCK BOYATA

The Belgian hasn’t had the easiest of times since making the switch from Manchester City, but now it appears that to the gaffer he is first choice quality.

The Belgian international will need to form a partnership with Sviachenko to help stop Miller and Garner.

RB: MIKAEL LUSTIG

He’s been a reliable right-back since arriving in Scotland and looks right at home.

The Swedish international is consistent and works well at right-back, so no need to change anything here.

CDM: NIR BITON

Celtic seem to be able to find good Israeli midfielders quite often, before Biton there was Kayal, both very successful midfielders in their own right.

Biton is a very handy midfielder who also knows where the goal is, he can cause the Rangers midfield a lot of problems.

CDM: SCOTT BROWN

You can’t name a Celtic side without the captain in their team, and especially not when they are facing their arch rivals Rangers- who Brown absolutely detests.

He’ll have no problems in getting stuck into the game and don’t be shocked to see him booked atleast once!

LW: SCOTT SINCLAIR

The once Aston Villa man has really improved himself since moving to Celtic, he looks back to his best and will be a thorn in the side of Rangers’ back.

He’s been free scoring of late and we fully expect that to continue against Rangers!

CAM: STUART ARMSTRONG

Once of Dundee United, Armstrong looks to be playing the best football of his career.

Tipped for a call-up to the next Scotland squad and with his recent displays it’s easy to see why.
He will be causing Rangers problems all day, that’s for sure.
