It’s been a pretty rough start to the season for West Ham fans here in the Transfer Tavern ,as they’ve seen their side completely fall apart after last year’s good form.
The Claret and Blues went into this year expecting to be one of the key players in the race for Europe with their new backdrop of the London Stadium, as well as competing in the Europa League but the reality has been far different to that.
The move to the London Stadium has been welcomed with a fair share of trouble whilst the actual performances on the pitch have been pretty dire.
A number of players who were key last season have completely fallen to pieces at times this year and so far Slaven Bilic’s new signings haven’t done enough.
Nevertheless, the club have the chance to put it right against Accrington Stanley in the EFL Cup.
It’s a potential banana skin but the Hammers need to use it as a chance of rebuilding some confidence and our landlord thinks this line-up for the club will do the business…
Darren Randolph
Randolph will resume duties as the cup goalkeeper but could arguably be the Hammers number one before too long with Adrian flapping at every opportunity.
Sam Byram
Byram missed the game against West Brom so should get the chance to play here.
James Collins
Collins started fairly solidly this season but has since lost his way and needs a big game here to solidify his place.
Angelo Ogbonna
Ogbonna is the definition of inconsistency but it’s in these games where confidence can soar. He has to be the one that makes sure of that, though.
Alvaro Arbeloa
Arbeloa was signed for his experience and the club need it now. He’s played at the highest levels and West Ham should use this to help them out of their rut.
Cheikhou Kouyate
Kouyate needs to start stopping opposition attacks and this could be the game where he gets the chance to.
Mark Noble
It’ll be hurting Noble more than most with what’s happening right now so he’ll be determined to start and sort things out.
Dimitri Payet
Payet is gradually getting to the level he was at last season but needs minutes so should start against Accrington.
Sofiane Feghouli
Feghouli hasn’t really done it since his move from La Liga but this could be the chance to kick start his Hammers career.
Michail Antonio
Antonio has been the Hammers best player although that hasn’t been hard. Has to play to keep his eye in.
Ashley Fletcher
West Ham are struggling for goals up top so why not give the young Fletcher the chance to shine. This could be the gamble Bilic needs to turn things around.
