The rumour that just won’t go away…Alexandre Lacazette’s name has become almost synonymous with Arsenal this summer, with Arsene Wenger reportedly keen to add firepower to his strike force.
The French forward has been linked with the club for months, and despite numerous reported set backs; Arsenal seemingly haven’t given up home on landing the forward despite the fact that the 2016/17 Premier League is starting in just a few weeks.
After the deal looked dead in the water a couple of weeks ago, rumours suggesting that the move is happening have risen once again; and it seems that Arsenal could FINALLY be about to get their man.
According to Sky Sports, Lacazette is Arsenal’s most likely transfer at this point; so all signs are pointing towards the deal happening.
Arsenal have lacked a player up front like him for a while; a pacey, dynamic and technically gifted is a rare commodity in the Premier League.
He would without doubt add a new dimension to Arsenal’s first team; and a 4-3-2-1 formation could be perfect for him….
GK – Petr Cech
An obvious start. Petr Cech is, despite his years, still one of the best goalkeepers in world football; and probably the best in Premier League history.
Still an unbelievable shot stopper and dominant in the air; there is nobody better between the sticks.
RB – Hector Bellerin
Hector Bellerin was a real standout player for Arsenal last year.
After stepping in to cover for the injured Debuchy, Bellerin has gone from strength to strength; adding defensive prowess to his already stellar attacking play.
His rampaging runs down the right hand side can terrorise any Premier League defence, and that asset will prove even greater with a pacey Alexander Lacazette up front.
CB – Laurent Koscielny
Another easy pick. Koscielny has been an absolute rock in the heart of the Arsenal defence for years, and it seems that he gets better year on year.
Offering electric pace and a crunching tackle; very few attackers ever get the better of the French stalwart.
CB – Gabriel
This one will disappoint a lot of Arsenal fans; but at this point Arsene Wenger has very little choice.
His chase for numerous central defenders has failed, and with Per Mertesacker injured for a few months; Arsenal may have to turn to Gabriel as first choice in the heart of their defence.
The jury is still out on the defender, having failed to wow the Arsenal faithful so far; but he is the best Arsenal can muster at this point.
LB – Nacho Monreal
After a disappointing start to his Arsenal career, Nacho Monreal looked like a new player last season.
Offering a threat going forward and continuing to be solid defensively; he has evolved into a quality left back.
Like Bellerin, his rampaging runs forwards will provide players like Alexandre Lacazette with a real opportunity to pounce next season.
CM – Granit Xhaka
Arsenal’s latest big money acquisition will easily become a key part of the Arsenal set up next season.
Able to break up play and lodge a pass forward to the pacey men in front of him; Xhaka will without doubt go on to have a staring role in the Arsenal campaign next season.
Excellent at the back and excellent going forward; the complete midfielder
CM – Aaron Ramsey
Despite reportedly originally being a doubt for Arsenal’s opening game of the season, Aaron Ramsey now looks set to be involved from the start of the season.
A huge hit with the Welsh national side this summer, Ramsey has gone from strength to strength over the last few years; culminating in the present where he is revered as one of the best in England.
Able to score goals, produce goals and stop offensive play; Ramsey has turned into a real star in the heart of the Arsenal midfield.
RAM – Alexis Sanchez
Nothing much needs to be said about Alexis Sanchez. He is the complete winger.
Any striker would love to play alongside Sanchez; he scores, he assists, he defends, he attacks. He does it all.
Expect him to run through defences and slot it across to Lacazette in a a number of classic poachers goals.
CAM – Mesut Ozil
The man that will no doubt be the provider of the majority of Lacazette’s goals in an Arsenal shirt.
Ozil is a prolific assistmaker, and an absolutely wonderful player.
He is able to pick a pass out that nobody else on the pitch would have seen, and he is the difference between a forward getting 15 and 25 goals in a season.
He really is that good.
LAM – Alex Iwobi
With Arsenal linked with a host of attacking midfielders, this one might not come to pass; but the stars are aligned for this year to be the year of Alex Iwobi.
He was a joy to watch last season, and you would expect him to get even better in the coming year.
Arsenal reportedly blocked him going to the Olympics this summer, so they clearly must have a plan in place for him.
Able to dart at defences and swing in crosses; he will prove a real asset to the new man up front.
FWD – Alexandre Lacazette
The man everyone is talking about.
After weeks of rumours, it looks like the deal to bring Lacazette to Arsenal could actually happen over the coming days.
A fast attacking talent, Lacazette will find it easy to get onto the end of through balls gifted to him by the talented attacking trio behind him.
Technically gifted in his own right, you would also expect him to pop up with a few assists whilst he’s at it too!
