If there’s one thing the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern want more than Premier League glory, it’s to see their team lift the Champions League title for the first time.

The Gunners have seen their Champions League exploits often come to a halt against Barcelona in the knockout stages, and Arsene Wenger must be ruing his side’s luck to draw the Catalans so often.

Indeed the closest the north London side has come was in the 2006 final against Barcelona, where they were narrowly edged out.

Since then they’ve had to look on as Manchester United won it for a third time and Chelsea lifted the trophy for the first occasion in 2012 and for the Arsenal faithful, it’s a dream they want desperately to become a reality.

Arsene Wenger would also love to win the competition for the first time with the club he is synonymous with and our landlord thinks it’s not actually that far away from happening.

With this line up in a 4-5-1 Arsenal could just lift the biggest club trophy of all this season…..

Arsenal’s defence will need to step up to have any hope of Champions League glory.

Costly mistakes have occurred at crucial times for the Gunners in the Premier League and against the best in Europe this cannot happen.

Petr Cech can be relied upon but certain areas could do with addressing particularly with the declining Per Mertesacker, and the weak left side of their defence.

Murillo and Willems could be good options.

Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla, Granit Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil

You look at Arsenal’s midfield and think that actually, it’s up there with the best around Europe.

Whilst it may not boast a Toni Kroos and Andres Iniesta the likes of Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil are top drawer players and if Arsenal’s midfield get it right they could lead the charge to European glory.

Granit Xhaka will also be key to any success and Wenger looks to have finally sorted the Gunners defensive midfield problems.
