Awful, dismal, tragic, disastrous, appalling, embarrassing. The list goes on.
And no I am not talking about Tottenham’s chronic inability to finish above Arsenal – I am talking about Aston Villa.
Pundits struggled for words towards to back end the season to describe Villa’s woeful season, which saw the once great club relegated to the Championship for the first time in their Premier League history.
The Villains finished rock bottom of the league, registering only 17 points – half that of Norwich who finished only a place above them. A tough season awaits at Villa Park in what is a hugely competitive Championship.
Players will come and of course players will go as the club will try to strengthen in the hope that they can bounce back from upset and straight back into the Premier League next season.
It is hard to think of positives from the season, however our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern has come up with a list of FIVE Aston Villa players who deserve another chance in England’s top league. What do you think?

Idrissa Gueye
The stand out player for Villa last season, Gueye will certainly attract attention from a host of Premier League clubs this summer.
The Senegal international was compared to man of the moment N’Golo Kante throughout the season by the landlord here in the Tavern, so could be a fine addition for many.
Micah Richards
While Richards didn’t have a terrific season, I often felt sorry for the former Manchester City star.
It may be fair to say ‘you can only be as good as those around you’ in Richard’s case as he was too often mopping up, or at least trying to, for his team-mates commonplace mistakes.
Jordan Ayew
Ayew was frustratingly close to making a real impact at Villa this season, but it never quite happened.
The Ghanian however is certainly talented and showed his keen eye for goal in fabulous glimpses throughout.
If provided with better service, Ayew would almost definitely score more goals.
Jordan Veretout
Veretout allegedly turned down a move to now Champions Leicester City last summer, instead opting for a switch to Villa Park.
The Frenchman must be kicking himself, while the Foxes are probably wiping the sweat from their foreheads having dodged a bullet.
Not title winning quality, but Veretout has more to offer.
Jordan Amavi
The third Jordan on this list, Amavi spent the majority of the season out with injury having picked up a nasty knock back in November whilst on International duty.
The young Frenchman impressed at the start of the season and was unfortunate not to be able to contribute more throughout the campaign.
A real diamond in the rough who could go on to big things.
