Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are highly confident of winning the league this season.

You can’t really argue with them, either, because the Blues have been about as faultless as it gets in the Premier League this season under Antonio Conte.

The Italian manager has easily been the best man in the dugout this season despite all the other superb bosses around in the division at the moment and, if he can keep it together, he’ll be lifting the trophy in May.

It’s looking like a forgone conclusion, then, but there is still a chance the Blues could blow it – no matter how small.

Indeed, our landlord has been looking through some of the fixtures the Stamford Bridge club will still have to play before the end of the season and he thinks that these five games in particular could just see the title race get blown wide open.

Proceed with caution, Chelsea…

 West Ham v Chelsea 06/03/17

There’s nothing West Ham and their fans would like more than throwing a claret and blue spanner in the works next month.

The Hammers were unfortunate to lose to Chelsea on the opening day of the season and our landlord reckons they’ll be well up for making things right. Slaven Bilic’s men have been in better form of late, too, and so this game represents a far bigger challenge than it might have done a few months ago.

 Chelsea v Manchester City 05/04/17

For many, there’s only really one side now that might have even the slightest chance of reeling Chelsea in and that’s Man City.

The Citizens have been in fine form of late with them back to their best in terms of attacking play. Their defence looks more solid, too, and so if they are in touch with Chelsea by the time this game comes it could be a fascinating watch that City will fancy winning.

 Manchester United v Chelsea 15/04/17

Jose Mourinho would surely like nothing more than getting one over his old employers and blowing a hole in their title chances in the process.

United were battered 4-0 at Stamford Bridge earlier this season and so revenge will surely be on the Portuguese’s mind as well as that of his players’. The Red Devils are looking a far stronger outfit than they were back then and this represents Chelsea’s toughest away-day left.

 Everton v Chelsea 29/04/17

Closely following that, though, has to be a trip to Everton soon after.

Goodison Park is a raucous old stadium at the worst of times so with them going well at the moment and potentially well in with a chance of European football by then they’ll be cranking up the noise. The Toffees will be keen to show that they’ve got the talent to go toe-to-toe with the best here, too.

 West Brom v Chelsea 13/05/17

The last of our five sees a tricky trip to West Brom in the final weeks of the season.

Tony Pulis’ men have been going great guns this season and, like Everton, harbour hopes of European qualification come the end of the year. Even if they cannot make those spots by the time this game comes around Tony Pulis won’t be letting his side’s standards slip and so the Blues will have to compete for the full game at The Hawthorns.
