With a new superstar manager, and a huge transfer budget to play with; it is an exciting time to be a Manchester City fan.
The Citizens in the tavern are very optimistic about next season; and with all of the rumours surrounding their potential transfer targets it’s easy to see why.
It is of course important to separate fact from fiction; but with city now offering a mouth watering prospect for most players, it seems that anyone could end up at the Etihad next year.
Some are definitely more likely than others though, and they could be readied just in time for City’s opening day fixture against Sunderland.

John Stones
After a summer of transfer rumours last year, Stones looks set to be the subject of another set of rumours as this summer heats up.
Despite a disappointing season last summer, Stones remains of interest to a number of top European clubs, with City at the front of the queue.
John Stones has been described as the perfect Pep Guardiola player, and so it would be easy to see where the young Englishman would fit into the City side.
Everton may want to cut their losses on the defender this summer, as another poor season could wreck the market value of the wonder kid. If that is the case; he will no doubt be a starter against Sunderland.
Stephan Lichsteiner
A few weeks ago Stephan Lichsteiner looked set to join City’s Premier League rivals Chelsea, but out of nowhere that deal fell through.
The Daily Star are reporting that City are set to swoop in and steal the transfer away from Chelsea, as they seek to bolster their defensive options.
Lichsteiner is reportedly unhappy at Juventus following the capture of Dani Alves, so this deal could go through quickly.
Lichsteiner is no youngster, so he would almost certainly be a starter for City; and could look to set the first game of the season as his debut for the Manchester club.
Leroy Sane
With City looking to beef up their attacking options, they are reportedly looking at Leroy Sane.
A fantastic season for Schalke last season has attracted interest across Europe, and with his role in the German national team this summer; his value is only set to rise.
A host of European clubs are interested, but City look to be leading the chase.
The Daily Star report that Guardiola is looking to put in a £35m bid for the midfielder, as he looks to wrap up the transfer quickly; leaving more than enough time for him to get ready for City’s opening fixture.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
This deal looked to be progressing at a great rate of knots a week or so ago; with rumours here in the tavern rampant over the imminent conclusion of the deal.
That didn’t happen; but it doesn’t look like City’s interest in the star striker has waded at all.
The transfer would likely require a British record fee, but Man City definitely have the funds to support that.
The idea of Aguero and Aubamayang up front is a mouth watering thought, and the Citizens here in the tavern want this deal wrapped up quickly; allowing the pair to have a starring role against Sunderland.
Paul Pogba
The transfer window isn’t even officially open yet; and the Paul Pogba transfer saga has already become the most talked about story of the year.
The French enforcer has been linked with just about every top club in European football so far this summer; and it is easy to see why Manchester City are a leading name in the race for the midfielder.
With an endless transfer budget, wage budget, and the prospect of player under Pep Guardiola; it is easy to see why this one could happen this summer.
Juventus confirmed that they rejected a bid from City last summer; and it seems inevitable that they will come back in for the midfielder this summer.
With an even bigger budget and the added prospect of having a world renowned manager in charge; could this be the year that he finally makes the switch?
