Manchester United have always been one of the beacons of English football. Well, for the 20 odd years prior to now anyway.
The Red Devils have been lauded for the number of great teams, not just individuals, but the collection of top players who have been fielded all at once.
As much as neutrals probably hated their dominance of domestic football, and are enjoying the pitfalls currently, there’s few would deny their superiority of much of the last decade.
So many great players have worn the famous red shirt over the years. The Busby Babes. The Class of ’92. Cristiano Ronaldo.

But has it really always been such a great shirt?
The answer is no.
Though they’re a mega global brand, the Manchester giants haven’t always got it quite right when it comes to designing their shirt.
Perhaps it’s never got so bad as to reach the levels of the infamous grey kit worn in the loss to Southampton all those years ago, but there’s certainly a few that comes close.

Thankfully, their top this season looked nothing like above the image. It looks as if someone has taken this year’s shirt and added a mismatch of ‘go faster’ stripes down the side.
The strange black trim looks utterly out of place.
The only way United’s current season could get any worse is if they were wearing this.
Obviously, United work with Nike following their record breaking agreement with Adidas signed last season.
Thankfully, that rules out the above abomination from ever being bestowed upon the baying public.
A dreadful dark red, paired with what appears to be almost black velvet would surely have gone down as one of the worst kits in recent memory.
Another fake, given away as it is made by Nike, but the Red Devils faithful will surely be relishing the fact they never had to suffer through a year of this nonsense.
Stripes down the side and the gold across the torso looks like a cheesy, almost Las Vegas, attempt on one of European football’s most prestigious footballing orders.
It’s hard to go wrong with a white kit, though somehow who drew up this attempt managed to.
The two black straps across the upper arms look like a small child’s been let loose with a paint brush when handed a blank canvas.
Seriously, how do you get a simple white shirt with black trim so wrong?
We’re taking this one to be pretty tongue in cheek, obviously, so hats off to the joker that constructed this monstrosity.
Still, even the most ardent of Manchester City fans would surely have taken pity on their city rivals had they have been forced to play/watch in that.
