The new Patrick Vieira is attracting interest from across the Premier League, including Arsenal according to reports in the Daily Express.
Toulouse FC midfielder, Moussa Sissoko has drawn many comparisons with his countryman and the heir to the Arsenal legend’s throne looks as though he could be moving to English shores soon but Liverpool and Manchester City will be looking to hijack the deal.
The young midfielder is seen to be the natural successor to Vieira in the French national team after earning himself three caps in the post-world cup era.
Talk of around £18million for the player seems a bit steep but given the potential he holds, it could be a long term bargain.
Liverpool have shown they are not scared of splashing the cash this summer after spending similar amounts of England international, Jordan Henderson. Sissoko would fit into the Liverpool set up rather well as a holding midfielder, sitting behind Steven Gerrard and new arrival, Henderson in the centre of the park.
Like Vieira, Moussa Sissoko can be utilised as both a holding midfielder and a box to box midfielder, using his pace and athleticism to add a bit of creativity through the centre.
The obvious club who would be willing to spend the £18million fee along with extortionate wages would have to be Manchester City. The Eastlands club look as though they could be real contenders not only in the transfer market this season, but for the Premier League title.
All clubs find it difficult to compete with City in the transfer market and if Mancini steps up his interest in the 21-year-old and makes a formal bid then it might just be a foregone conclusion.
Arsenal will be hoping that the Toulouse midfielder’s head is not turned by money however, as Arsene Wenger is interested in incorporating the Frechman into his new look Arsenal side to add a bit of steel to the group. With £18million price tag attached, it still remains to be seen whether money-saving Wenger is willing to adhere to that valuation.
However it all pans out, it looks as though Moussa Sissoko is another Premier League star in the making but Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City will have to scrap it out amongst themselves to determine where the midfielder will be plying his trade next season.
