It’s fair to say that no one wants to be a Newcastle fan during a transfer window. Mike Ashley has the fans on strings as he pockets millions from the club without investing much back. However, it seemed like the fans were finally going to get the striker they needed through the door in Salomon Rondon, but according to Sky Sports this morning the deal has stalled.

Whilst Rondon isn’t quite the striker the Magpies thought they’d be targetting when they came into this window, they’ll just be praying that he comes in at this rate as it looks like they’ve exhausted other options and with the pennies that Ashley is making available it looks like Rondon if the least-worst option. The club are also nearing a deal for Yoshinori Muto but that one hasn’t done much to get Newcastle fans off their seats either.
The deal for Rondon likely hinges on the fact that Dwight Gayle will be going in the other direction, with West Brom targetting an instant return to the Premier League and Gayle being a Championship goalscoring machine. The window has just eight days left to run and it’s probably going to see Rondon come through the door at St James Park, although the frustrations have done every Geordie’s head in so far.

The fans are rightfully frustrated by their club and will be hoping that they can just get this deal over the line soon.
