Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are gearing up for another summer of moves in and out after yet again seeing a title defence turn into relative madness and a previously popular manager fight for his job.

Chelsea look likely to replace Antonio Conte with a new manager, just a year after he inspired the Blues to a title win. Still, in recent times, this really has become the norm for our Blue fans in the pub. Chelsea’s insistence on chopping and changing has brought them success over the years, although it must be said alongside some dismal times too.

As you can imagine, there have been plenty of names in the hat for the Stamford Bridge job and, many top European managers would relish the chance of getting their teeth into the Blues.

However, the favourite among our regulars in the pool room is former Barcelona chief Luis Enrique, but he reportedly comes with very high wage demands. Conte is currently on around £9.5m a year, which is high in comparison to other Premier League managers, though pales in comparison to what his potential replacement was apparently raking in over in Spain. Indeed, at Barcelona, Enrique was thought to be pulling in around £16m a year and would see anything less as a severe drop in salary.

During his three years at the Nou Camp, Enrique won six trophies including a double and a treble. He certainly knows how to win leagues and mastermind cup runs, which is right up Abramovich’s street as he looks to bring more silverware into Stamford Bridge.

Another Champions League win will surely be high on the priority list for both and Enrique will be looking to add to his recent rise in stock.

Looks to bring out the best in players

When he took over at Barcelona, the highly successful tika taka was still in full flow but with a different set of players. He realised instantly that the trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar needed the ball quicker to them to create the magic.
