Newcastle United have had some woes already this season with on and off the field issues creating havoc at the club.
The ongoing saga with Mike Ashley wanting to sell the club does not appear to be drawing to an end anytime soon, whilst results on the pitch are not that much better.
The Magpies are yet to win a game in the Premier League, or any competition, so far this season and Rafa Benitez has continued his calls for investment into the team.
Achraf Lazaar starred for the developmental side on Monday night and provided two assists in the 45 minutes of football he played, as they managed to get their first win of the campaign.
The Morocco international appears to have been deemed surplus to requirements at Newcastle, however, with Paul Dummett’s injury, he may have just given Benitez a timely boost ahead of their trip to Manchester United at the weekend.
The Verdict:

Lazaar will have been delighted to have finally got back on the pitch for Newcastle, albeit for the reserves, and has certainly given Benitez some thinking to do.
His appearance on Monday night could not have gone much better than it did and will surely put him at the forefront of the manager’s mind when selecting his team for the trip to Old Trafford.
Admittedly, the level of football is different, however, if Lazaar can continue to produce performances of a high quality, he will feel like a new signing and bring that added competition to the side that Benitez desperately wants.
Newcastle fans – thoughts?
