Sheffield Wednesday’s decline on the pitch in the last few weeks has been fairly representative of their overall decline since last making the play-offs in 2017.
Since then, the club has failed to challenge in the upper echelons of the league and with the team faltering under Garry Monk, questions have been raised about Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership.
The Thai owner had a successful start to life in South Yorkshire after the Owls made the play-offs in back-to-back seasons, but things have taken a turn for the worse recently on and off the pitch.
An EFL investigation into the club’s sale of Hillsborough to Chansiri is currently ongoing, with a points reduction a possible outcome of their findings, while some fans have also voiced their concern with what they perceive to be extortionate ticket prices.
One fan on Twitter has now spoken of a party who may be interested in taking over the club, but the Sun’s Alan Nixon has suggested that any takeover is currently unlikely to happen.

It is an interesting update from the journalist, not least because the last two words in the sentence indicate that the owners may look to sell at some point in the near future.
Chansiri’s reign hasn’t been all doom and gloom. He has occasionally spent big money on players – £10m on Jordan Rhodes for example – but perhaps the club changing hands could breathe fresh life into the Owls.
