The current pandemic is wreaking havoc across the world, and the football industry is not immune.
It has already brought a halt to the professional tiers in the United Kingdom, whilst a number of the non-league divisions have even been cancelled. Not only that, some clubs could be forced out of business if the situation does not improve in the near future – even Premier League sides such as Burnley are in danger.
You wouldn’t expect Liverpool to be in financial ruin any time soon, but that has not stopped the club’s owners taking advantage of the government’s initiative to pay 80% of their staff’s wages. That has not gone down well with the fans at all.
Controversial journalist Piers Morgan has had his say as well, slamming the owners for their decision. Surprisingly, many Reds supporters appear to agree – even though one pointed out he hates the club – as you can see below.
