‘Announce victory’ - Newcastle fans jubilant on Twitter as great boost is confirmed

Our Newcastle United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are in high spirits going into this weekend’s big clash with Huddersfield and Rafa Benitez’s latest comments have only helped that.

The Magpies returned to the top of the Championship in dramatic style earlier this week as two late goals – one a comical affair from Mo Diame – helped them beat Brighton.

That result surely has the potential to spur the club on for the rest of the season and, ahead of this weekend’s game, the Spanish manager has revealed that Dwight Gayle is back in the squad after an injury lay-off.

As quoted by the club’s official Twitter account, Benitez said:

Certainly, the news has to be welcomed at this crucial stage in the season with Gayle one of the finest attackers outside of the Premier League.

Indeed, he’s by some way the club’s top scorer this year and whilst he may not start against promotion rivals Huddersfield, he surely will figure if the game is not going the Magpies’ way towards the final whistle.
