Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t looking like a confident bunch, with tomorrow’s Champions League clash in Barcelona forefront in their minds, but they’ve been distracted today by some intriguing reports.
The Daily Express cites repots that Arsenal are facing immense competition from Borussia Dortmund for the signature of Dinamo Zagreb’s excelling youngster Josip Brekalo.
Brekalo, who is just 17 and is capped for Croatia’s youth side, has broken into Zagreb’s first-team this season and caught the eye in the UEFA Youth League- scoring against Arsenal, Anderlecht and Bayern Munich.
Whilst those performances caught the eye of the club’s the goals came against, Dortmund are the most keen on securing the signature of Brekalo and are readying a summer bid of £3.6m.
Capable of playing on either flank, Brekalo’s versatility will certainly appeal to all the interested parties and the player himself would likely jump at the chance to sign for one of the top sides in Europe- whether that be in Germany or England.
Our landlord has seen snippets of the player and has heard good things, so he definitely feels Arsenal should rival Dortmund if their interest is genuine.
