The Daily Mail have Arsenal fans on tenterhooks here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that Arsene Wenger has cast further doubt on Wojciech Szczesny’s future at the club.
Not only was the Polish international goalkeeper in serious trouble for smoking in the shower following the loss to Southampton but he also found himself dropped for the game against their less than friendly opponents Stoke City earlier today and according to his manager, it was all down to the form he has been displaying.
Wenger spoke about the decision to play Colombian international David Ospina and noted: “David Ospina done well in the last game and deserves to play again. [Wojciech] Szczesny has played many games and it’s a good opportunity to look at Ospina.”
As one of our regulars notes, we would probably have dropped the Pole as well but given his lack of humility and indeed Nicklas Bendtner-like belief in himself, Szczesny will not be happy with a spell on the bench for too much longer and it could well be the beginning of the end in his Arsenal career.
