It was a poor summer for the Gunners, and after a terrible start to the Premier League season, it’s clear that a major revolution is needed at the Emirates.
The playing staff are looking a shadow of their former selves, and with so many players on course to leave the club next summer unless a new contract comes their way, a few major signings may be needed over the coming months.
If the Mirror is to be believed, it appears as though the Gunners are well aware of the problems they are facing, with a move for one of Europe’s best players potentially on the horizon as a result.
According to the Mirror, Arsenal are ‘expected’ to move for Bayern Munich attacker Thomas Muller when the transfer window re-opens, with the German currently not a key part of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans in Munich.
The Gunners will face competition from Chelsea, it is noted, but with Wenger’s side struggling, it’s clear that a move for the German could be just what they need.
He has often been a regular for his current side, but he has found life tough under Carlo Ancelotti, and a move away could be what he needs – particularly in a World Cup year.
Still, he’ll be tough to sign and expensive to lure, but he would be worth every penny.
Landlord’s Verdict
Muller is undoubtedly one of Europe’s best. A lethal attacker, he has won everything there is to win in the game – and he has been a key part of proceedings for club and country for years now.
He’s out of favour at present, though, and if that doesn’t change, a player of his calibre is likely to seek a move.
If that is the case, a move to Arsenal could be attractive.
