Arsenal fans were agreeing with head coach Mikel Arteta after the Spaniard’s comments on signing someone in the current transfer window.
In his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Chelsea, the former Manchester City assistant coach claimed that he wouldn’t be unhappy if the club didn’t make a signing this month as he doesn’t want to make signings for the sake of it (via football.london). The north London outfit have been guilty of making panic buys in recent transfers with last year’s acquisition of Denis Suarez the stand-out example.
The former Barcelona player ended up playing just over 100 minutes for the side after joining on loan from the Catalan giants (via Transfermarkt). He scored no goals and contributed no assists as the Emirates Stadium giants refused to take up their option to sign him on a permanent deal.
Fans were left agreeing with their boss on not making signings for the sake of it as they took to Twitter to react to his comments. Here is a selection of tweets from Gooners:
