Arsenal fans were left baffled after Unai Emery took off Gabriel Martinelli during their loss to Eintracht Frankfurt last night.
Martinelli made way for playmaker Mesut Ozil in the 60th minute with the score tied at 1-1.
The Brazilian teenager was rated as the side’s joint-best player on the night by Football.London, despite going off with 30 minutes to go.
Statistics from the game show just how well Martinelli was doing in comparison to some of his teammates as he won the second-most tackles and had the second-most shots, contributing at both ends of the pitch (via WhoScored).
His failure to score also meant the player has now gone two consecutive starts with scoring for the north London giants despite scoring in each of his first four for the club (via Transfermarkt).
Fans were left incredibly confused by the substitution from Emery, who was sacked as a result of the loss to the German side (via Arsenal).
