Arsenal fans were over the moon after the women’s side beat Slavia Prague 8-0 in a staggering Champions League last-16 tie.
Carrying a 5-2 first-leg lead into last night’s fixture, the Gunners were already strong favourites to go through. However, Joe Montemurro’s side turned on the style with goals from Danielle van de Donk (3), Kim Little, Jill Roord and Vivianne Miedema (3) helping them to a 13-2 aggregate victory.
The side were 4-0 up by half-time, with van de Donk, Little, Roord and Miedema all sharing a goal each. However, after the interval, it was the van de Donk and Miedema show as the pair scored two more each to knock up hat-tricks (via The Guardian).
After five years away from the last 16 of the Champions League, Arsenal have finally managed to reach the quarter-finals as they eye a prestigious league and European cup double.
Fans were excited by the performance of the women’s side as they took to Twitter to react.
