Arsenal: Fans show support for Shkodran Mustafi after club post

Arsenal fans were showing their support for Shkodran Mustafi after a club post about the German centre-back.

The side posted an ‘in my own words‘ interview with the 27-year-old as he opened up about criticism, tough times and his relationship with the fans. If there is a more infamous figure at the north London outfit than Granit Xhaka then surely it would be Mustafi, who was booed by the fans during the Emirates Cup game against Olympique Lyonnais last summer (via The Sun).

He has appeared in few games this campaign, making just 1o appearances across all competitions, including just two starts in the Premier League (via Transfermarkt). After Unai Emery was sacked by the club, he may well have been hoping to get a chance under Mikel Arteta, however, has played just 80 minutes under the Spaniard.

Despite his lack of popularity overall, some fans were showing their support for the player as they took to Twitter to react to the club’s post. Here is a selection of tweets from the north London faithful:
