Arsenal have reportedly made an enquiry to Ansu Fati's agent Jorge Mendes over the possibility of signing the Barcelona winger this summer.

The Lowdown: Fati profiled

Fati is an exciting talent who first broke onto the scene at Barcelona as a teenager, featuring 33 times in the 2019/20 season as he scored eight goals and supplied one assist, with one of those goals coming in the Champions League (Transfermarkt).

The winger has since gone on to play seven times by the age of 20.

However, he has not been a regular starter under Xavi so far this term, so he could look for a move this summer.

The Latest: Enquiry made for Fati

As per one Spanish news outlet, Arsenal have personally called Fati's agent Mendes over a possible move this summer, but they face competition from Manchester United and a number of other Premier League clubs for his signature.

However, Barcelona are reluctant to sell him, referring to his astronomical €1bn (£886.5m) release clause and the fact that his contract at the Nou Camp does not expire until 2027.

The Verdict: Great opportunity for Arsenal

Mikel Arteta and Edu will see Fati's situation as a great opportunity to invest in a young prospect with such a high ceiling.

Hailed as a 'spectacular asset' by Xavi upon being asked about the 20-year-old's future recently, and described by his team-mate Eric Garcia as a player who was 'born with magic', Fati is clearly held in very high esteem, and his numbers show just how much of a threat that he can pose.

He ranks in the 99th percentile for non-penalty xG, shots and touches per game among his positional peers in Europe's top five leagues over the past year, and he would give Arteta another great option in attack alongside the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
