Speculation will refuse to go away around the future of Mesut Ozil at Arsenal, and recent transfer reports see the midfielder linked with a move abroad.

According to The Telegraph, the former World Cup winner with Germany is attracting interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

No offers have yet been made but there is one clear impediment to any potential exit for the 31-year-old, namely that he has no intention of leaving the club until his contract runs out next summer.

It is crazy to think that a player who came from Real Madrid and has won a La Liga title, plus four FA Cups with Arsenal as well as the World Cup and European Under-21 Championship with Germany (per Transfermarkt) is now such an outcast that he hasn't played a single minute since football resumed in June.

Despite managing on average 2.1 key passes a game, Ozil - who is on £350,000-a-week - only managed one goal and two assists in all competitions last season, per WhoScored, and this poor return does not justify his extortionate salary, which adds up to £18.2 million a year.

It would be best for the club to sell him now as he could otherwise leave on a free next summer, but they are unable to do so as he seemingly refuses to leave. Arsenal have definitely been taught a lesson in this ongoing saga as they must realise that they should not just give players so much money to keep them at the club when they might not stay in the plans of the manager.
