Arsenal fans are looking rather unimpressed here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it emerges from Metro that Sami Khedira is set to snub a move to the club.
The Real Madrid midfielder will be available on a free come the end of the season and as our landlord reminds us over pouring a couple of pints at the bar, Khedira is certainly hot property with Arsenal strongly linked to him.
The midfielder has reportedly agreed a deal to Bundesliga side Schalke and that has certainly confused a fair few of our punters given both Chelsea and Manchester United were also thought to be fans of the player – and we think he could well simply fancy a return to Germany – not to mention be tempted by the money on offer from the German club.
Our punters have to lament the fact that once again Arsene Wenger has missed out on a player because he would not pay their wages and we certainly hope the Frenchman has an alternative lined up.
