Arsenal are continuing to strengthen their squad this summer as they look to build on a historic 2025/26 campaign and successfully defend their Premier League crown.
After finally ending a 22-year wait for the league title and reaching the Champions League final, Mikel Arteta’s side are determined not to stand still.
With rivals around them also undergoing changes, the Gunners are looking to add more elite talent to maintain their momentum.
Now, Arsenal have reignited their interest in one of Spain’s biggest stars.
Arsenal Learn Nico Williams Price
According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal have reopened discussions over a possible move for Athletic Club winger Nico Williams as they continue searching for a marquee attacking addition on the left flank.
The Gunners have been exploring several options in wide areas and, after setbacks in other transfer pursuits, Williams has once again become a serious target. Sporting director Andrea Berta is understood to have held conversations regarding the Spain international’s availability.
Williams arrives off the back of another impressive international tournament, helping Spain lift the 2026 World Cup after a dramatic extra-time victory over Argentina in the final.
The 24-year-old’s club season was interrupted by injury, limiting him to 20 La Liga starts, but he returned in time to play a key role for Spain on the biggest stage.
Despite previously attracting strong Premier League interest, Williams committed his future to Athletic Club by signing a new long-term contract. However, that deal includes a release clause worth around £77 million (€90m) — a figure Arsenal and other top clubs could still afford.
Spain manager Luis de la Fuente has previously described Williams as a “genius”, highlighting the winger’s exceptional talent and ability to change games from the flanks.
