There are some hesitant looks on the faces of Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern as Metro seem to think that the Gunners are set to splash the cash ahead of deadline day.
Not only are we slightly surprised that the club are looking to land another striker given they have let three out on loan this January but to consider making an offer of £26 million for Mario Mandzukic is not exactly what we would consider a wise move.
The Atletico Madrid forward has seen his place in the starting line-up come under threat recently after Diego Simeone brought club darling Fernando Torres back to the Vicente Calderon and the former Chelsea flop has blossomed once again.
Croatian international Mandzukic could well become surplus to requirements should the right amount of cash be offered to Atleti who have sold star forwards before when top clubs have come calling.
