Arsenal are showing no signs of slowing down in the transfer market after ending their 22-year wait for a Premier League title and reaching the Champions League final.
Rather than standing still, Mikel Arteta is eager to build on that success, particularly with rivals such as Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City all entering new eras under different managers.
The Gunners believe this summer is the ideal opportunity to strengthen further, and one of the Premier League’s standout midfielders has emerged as a priority target.
Arsenal Preparing Bruno G Bid
According to The Sun, Arsenal are preparing a £60 million bid for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
The Brazil international, described as “very complete” by national team boss Carlo Ancelotti, remains one of Arteta’s top midfield targets despite Newcastle’s determination to keep him at St James’ Park.
Arsenal believe a deal could still be possible this summer, even after Newcastle banked a huge fee from the sale of Sandro Tonali. The Magpies are keen to retain Guimaraes, but last season’s failure to qualify for Europe has increased uncertainty surrounding several of their star players.
Guimaraes is viewed as a player capable of taking Arsenal’s midfield to another level thanks to his technical quality, leadership and all-round ability.
While Newcastle are expected to resist any approach, the Premier League champions appear ready to test their resolve with a significant opening offer.
