Arsenal hold talks with representatives of “incredible” Brazilian World Cup star

Arsenal enjoyed a campaign to remember, ending a 22-year wait for the Premier League title before reaching the Champions League final, where they were ultimately beaten by PSG.

With Mikel Arteta now looking to build a squad capable of challenging on multiple fronts once again, strengthening an already impressive midfield has become a priority.

The Gunners are expected to be active in the transfer market, and one of Brazil’s biggest stars has now emerged as a leading target.

Arsenal In Talks for Bruno Guimaraes

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal have opened talks with the representatives of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes as they explore a blockbuster summer move.

The Brazilian, currently away at the World Cup, has been identified as one of Arteta’s priority targets, with Arsenal keen to add more control, quality and experience to the heart of midfield. Guimaraes has previously been described as “incredible” by Brazil teammate and Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli.

Newcastle are aware of Arsenal’s interest and are preparing for the possibility of a formal approach. While the Magpies view the 28-year-old as a key part of their project, they also recognise that interest from the Premier League champions is likely to intensify in the coming weeks.

Guimaraes still has two years remaining on his current contract, giving Newcastle a strong negotiating position, but Arsenal hope the opportunity to compete for more major honours could help persuade the Brazilian to make the switch to north London.
