Arsenal’s £6.7m-rated flop should be Newcastle United’s transfer priority this summer

The Newcastle fans in and around the Transfer Tavern are becoming more worried by the day at the lack of transfer activity that’s going on around the club.

Rafa Benitez was reliant on a tight-knit defence to stop the leakage of goals as the Magpies weren’t exactly big goal-scorers last season. That can’t happen again this campaign if Newcastle seriously want to kick on as a team, so therefore recruiting a top forward has to be at the forefront of their minds. Our punters believe that Arsenal outcast Lucas Perez, who is valued at £6.7 million on Transfermarkt, has the making of a superb signing and one that could see Newcastle prosper massively.

The Spaniard failed to gain any substantial game-time whilst with the Gunners, so instead spent the season out on loan in Spain with Deportivo. During his time back with the club, Perez scored 9 goals and assisted 8 in his 37 total appearances for the club, proving that his talent is wasted on the Arsenal bench, he should be starting for a team in need such as Newcastle.

The 29-year-old has a good turn of pace, a reliable eye for goal and the desire to impress in England after failing to cement his place within the Arsenal team. Newcastle have available to them solid players who will work hard for the team but not necessarily out and out goal-scorers like Lucas Perez for example.

Whether Newcastle could prize Perez away in Arsenal for him to prove himself in England once again is unknown but it would certainly be a good signing for the Magpies in our punters’ eyes.
