‘Ashley’s fault’, ‘Embarrasing’ - Angered Newcastle fans react to transfer update on Twitter

Newcastle fans here in the Tavern are hoping for a hectic couple of days business from their side, with an all-important striker still yet to be secured.

Rafa Benitez has been on the receiving end of criticism at times for how his side has performed, with the underlying faults in attacking areas being something that the Spaniard has been held liable for. After bringing in fellow countryman Joselu in the summer months, fans have labelled this a disaster having gone on to produce just four goals in 23 appearances for the Magpies. And, with the likes of Dwight Gayle and Aleksandr Mitrovic stagnating in the background after helping to no avail in their quest for Premier League football, questions are being asked of the decision-making.

However, after it was believed that the Magpies had their eyes set firmly on securing the services of Nicolai Jorgensen, it looks as if Mike Ashley may not like being held to a £20 million ransom for the striker. Indeed, typical of the Magpies’ season, just as fans thought the search for a striker was broadening and that they’d found their man, it looks as if they’ve turned their attention to Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge. As Sky Sports Reporter Keith Downie took to his Twitter account to state that Newcastle’s enquiry for the Englishman is falling on deaf ears.

Following the post, Newcastle fans were quick to hope that their interest is lying somewhere away from Daniel Sturridge, as they go on in search of a different addition.
