Our punters here at the Transfer Tavern will certainly be expecting Adama Traore to get the next round it, with the Telegraph reporting that Aston Villa are set to double the youngster’s wages in a new contract deal.
Indeed, despite Villa’s poor form which has culminated in the sacking of Tim Sherwood, it appears that Traore has done enough to convince those at Villa that he is one keeping on for the long term.
Traore, who signed for £7 million from Barcelona in the summer, only has one goal to his name so far this season, which came in the 5-3 victory over Notts County in the League Cup.
Despite this, Traore clearly has shown enough in his short time at Villa to suggest that he should be tied down for the time-being. This is not only to strengthen a struggling Villa side, but to perhaps increase his transfer value, should the big boys come knocking in the future.
Villa fans? Do you think this rise in wages has come too soon for Traore? Should he prove himself more? Let us know!
