Aston Villa eye move for Callum Hudson-Odoi

Aston Villa will be desperate to ensure consistency from here on in until the January transfer window, with a play-off place up for grabs.

The Villains can’t afford many more slip-ups if they are to stand any chance of securing promotion as they made a poor start to proceedings under Steve Bruce. Although, it appears as if the club are eyeing a potential addition, as according to Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa are interested in taking Callum Hudson-Odoi on loan.

The Sun report that Chelsea would like him to agree a new contract before allowing him to leave on loan in January, with his current deal having just 18 months to run.

Interestingly, Aston Villa checked out the 18-year-old forward in the summer and were considering an approach before moving for other targets.

And, with John Terry’s close relationship with the Stamford Bridge heirarchy a possible advantage, Villa could go back in for the youngster in January again.

THE VERDICT:

Callum Hudson-Odoi was one of the standout performers for Chelsea during pre-season and will play a huge part in their future, but he just isn’t receiving many minutes in the first-team this season, so a loan move seems suitable.

Aston Villa already have a number of wingers at the club, but adding the youngster to their ranks could take their promotion push to the next level as he has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in English football.
