It’s easy to understand why Aston Villa fans aren’t happy with their side. Whilst they may have finally won again yesterday, their football was torrid and Dean Smith’s philosophies are nowhere to be seen. However, a win is still a win, and now they’ll be keen to build on it and try and play some nicer footballer in the process.

Prior to yesterday’s 2-1 win against bottom of the Championship Ipswich Town, the last time that the Villains were able to celebrate a win was when they faced Swansea City on Boxing Day and scraped a 1-0 away win. It was once again Tammy Abraham who grabbed the decisive goals in front of the Villa Park faithful, taking his home goalscoring streak to seven straight games, so at least there are some positives.
Unfortunately, those positives aren’t coming thick and fast, and whilst they may have picked up three points, they now have to turn their attention to their clash against Reading on Tuesday evening. No game in the Championship is ever easy, and Ipswich proved that yesterday. However, Reading should be a whole different test in mid-week, and the Villains will be hoping Abraham saved a few goals for that clash in two days time.
