After a difficult start to the season, Aston Villa were in need of a win to lift themselves out of the drop zone and they would have viewed this weekend’s tie against Norwich City as the perfect opportunity to get one.

The Villans would not have predicted just how easy that win would have come, though, after thrashing the Canaries 5-1 in their own backyard.
Goals from Wesley (2), Jack Grealish, Conor Hourihane and Douglas Luiz sealed an emphatic victory for the West Midlanders in East Anglia, which now sees Dean Smith’s men climb out of the bottom-three and into 15th-place.
The Villans will be looking to continue their impressive form when Brighton come to visit after the international break in two weeks time.
Summer signing Douglas Luiz scored a beautiful strike on his home debut for Aston Villa last month and on Saturday pretty much recreated it with another world-class effort from the edge of the box, curling home past Norwich shot-stopper Michael McGovern to make it 5-0 to the visitors.
Unsurprisingly, it’s gone down a storm with fans of the club on Twitter; here’s what some had to say about the 21-year-old midfielder’s goal…
