Aston Villa fans are having a right good time this season. After a shaky start and the sacking of Steve Bruce, the season looked like a write-off. Dean Smith wasn’t having any of that, though, and he’s got the Villains into the playoff spots with four games to play after an incredible eight-game win streak, with Anwar El Ghazi key to that run.

El Ghazi is showing what he’s all about both in and out of possession. He may look like a flashy winger who only does the business going forward, but his defensive work is a joy to behold and he’s quickly become a fan favourite for the way he’s been playing as of late, with Dean Smith starting to unlock the Dutchman’s full potential as they aim for Championship promotion.
Should the Villains find themselves going up this season via the lottery of the playoffs, it will be on Smith’s summer to-do list to bring El Ghazi to the club on a permanent deal, and the influx of cash that the Birmingham club will receive for gaining promotion will surely be used to bring the five-goal and five-assist winger to Villa Park on a permanent basis among a number of other signings.
