Aston Villa are preparing for a busy winter period like everyone else and their fans seem particularly concerned by the lack of rest John McGinn is getting. Crunch games against Southampton, Norwich and Watford are up next, and Dean Smith will have to decide how to rotate his squad.
McGinn has been the stand-out performer for the Villans so far this term, and WhoScored seem to agree, rating his contributions 7.33/10, which is the highest rating in the squad. He’s scored three goals and has made two assists in the league but has also played more minutes than any other member of the squad, 1,530. which has seemingly been worrying fans.
The club posted a photo of McGinn lurking in the back of a photo in training and captioned it “we see you”. However, some fans weren’t in the mood for the light-hearted post, and instead they wanted to focus on telling the club to give him a rest ahead of bigger games coming up.

Others on Twitter were in agreeance:
McGinn carrying an injury so I would rest him Saturday & bring in Trez.
I think having a full fit McGinn for Watford away will be important.
Play Grealish more central & let him influence the game more. Trez & El Ghazi out wide.
