Many Aston Villa supporters have suggested that Andre Green should not be given a new contract by the club on social media.
The 21-year-old’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the 2019/20 campaign (Transfermarkt) and as of yet there has been no offer of fresh terms, meaning he will become a free agent in a few months time.
Green has made 49 appearances for the Villa first team in his career so far, but the winger has managed to net just two goals in that time whilst also racking up a single assist (Transfermarkt).
After the Villans confirmed their return to the Premier League last year, his services were deemed surplus to requirements for this season and he has subsequently spent time on loan at both Preston North End and Charlton Athletic. He hasn’t really pulled up any trees at either club though, netting just three times in 17 combined appearances (Transfermarkt).
With his contract running down, @AVFC_News asked the question on Twitter whether or not the club should offer him an extension. It seems that the majority of supporters feel that they shouldn’t, suggesting that it is time for him to move on.

i really like Green and so this hurts a little but i think its in everyone’s interest – particularly his – to not renew. He needs regular games at this stage and we can’t offer that. wish him all the best whatever happens however – seems a good kid.

Hasn’t kicked on anywhere near what he should have. Injuries have not helped. Needs a good move to start his career again.
