Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to a claim made by Express and Star that the club will look to sign ‘experienced’ players this summer.
After drawing with West Ham United on the final day of the 2019/20 season, Villa managed to preserve their Premier League status; and focus will now turn to next season, which is just over a month away.
Manager Dean Smith is expected to make several changes to his squad and could bring in some new additions during the summer transfer window.
With the transfer window now open, talk has begun over the potential targets that Smith will be looking to sign and Express and Star believe that the club will go for an ‘experienced’ option with focus on improving their attack.
Wesley, who arrived last summer, managed to net just five Premier League goals last term, whilst Mbwana Samatta found the back of the net once and youngster Keinan Davis failed to get himself on the scoresheet.
Reacting to the claim which was shared by Twitter account @villareport, some fans shared their opinions. One called for the club to sign 28-year-old Callum Wilson, who scored eight Premier League goals in 2019/20 despite Bournemouth’s relegation:
Who though? Tammy, who for me is a risk at this level, or Danny Ings, which would probably be a reach. You’re going to struggle to convince a premier league player to leave and come to the team that just managed to avoid relegation

Fraser would be a good bit of business on a free
