Aston Villa: Fans furious over call for Dean Smith to resign as manager

Several Aston Villa fans have reacted furiously to a suggestion that Dean Smith should resign as manager following their 2-1 defeat against Wolves.

Twitter account @AstonBible made the call, posting the message: “Dean Smith.. please just resign #AVFC #SmithOut.”

But it has prompted an angry response from several Villa fans, most of whom believe that the ex-Walsall manager is doing a great job with the West Midlands club.

Smith, of course, guided the Villans to promotion from the Championship via the play-offs last season (BBC Sport), leading them to a 10-match winning streak in the process (talkSPORT).

So far this season they are doing ok in the Premier League, picking up 11 points from 12 games. They currently sit three points above the relegation zone (BBC Sport).

However, it appears that isn’t enough for @AstonBible, who wants the manager to be replaced.

It’s fair to say that the majority of Aston Villa supporters disagree and want Smith to stay, and some took to Twitter to say that the call for the manager to go is absolutely ridiculous.
