Jonathan Kodjia managed to grab a brace in Aston Villa’s 5-0 hammering of Liverpool in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup last night, and it is fair to say fans enjoyed the forward’s first goal during the encounter.

Kodjia has mainly been on the fringes so far this campaign, failing to start a single Premier League game for Dean Smith’s side. However, the 30-year-old showed no signs of rust as he took his chance and helped the Villans progress to the semi-finals.
He, of course, came up against a very young Liverpool team, with the senior squad away in Qatar for the Club World Cup. That has not stopped Aston Villa fans from lauding him, though, with some now hoping to see him start over Wesley on Saturday against Southampton.
Despite managing to get his own name on the scoresheet, first-choice striker Wesley has really struggled of late, failing to register a Premier League goal since October.
Take a look at what Villa fans had to say after Kodjia’s first goal against Liverpool below…
Going to regret not playing Kodjia in the league. Proven goal scorer. Shame he’s out of contract in the summer #avfc
