Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has confirmed that Jed Steer will be out of action for between three to four months due to injury.
The goalkeeper was forced off after just eight minutes in the Villans’ recent game against Wolves and it was initially thought that he would miss two months of the season (Sky Sports).
However speaking in his press conference ahead of Villa’s fixture against Newcastle United, Smith said that he would actually be out for three to four months (@PreeceObserver).
It is a huge blow for Steer, who was actually making his first Premier League start of the season at Molineux (Transfermarkt) as he deputised for Tom Heaton who has also been struggling with injury problems.
The 27-year-old certainly has the sympathy of the supporters, many of whom have been expressing their sadness after learning that the shot stopper faces a lengthy period on the sidelines.
Here is what some Villa fans had to say following the news that Steer would be out for the next three to four months…
😞 gutted for him. He’s a legend in my eyes and I hope he gets more PL minutes when he comes back.

Steer and Hourihane have gone through it all just to get to the Premier League and earn caps. I hope he recovers well and makes it back into the squad!

Disappointed for him. We wouldn’t have got promoted without his stellar performances in the second half of the season.

I thought it was going to be a long one, could see when he tried to put weight on it, so unlucky for the bloke.
